Bambounou

Paris, France
ClekClekBoom

After appearing on ClekClekBoom’s debut release, the down-right filthy, booty-poppin’ “Hugz” (produced in collaboration with French Fries), Bambounou, aka Jeremy Guindo, has asserted himself on the international bass scene as one of the most original and diverse producers out there.

Like many of the ClekClek crew, Bambounou earned his stripes skating the streets of Paris but it wasn’t until a few years later that he started producing and deejaying. Although his inspiration ranges everything from Chicago’s iconic ghetto house label Dance Mania to Detroit’s arcane Drexcyia it’s perhaps as a consequence of his unconventional method toward composition that Bambounou’s tracks are so unique. He admits that inconveniently his creativity tends to peak just before he goes to sleep and is subsequently forced to record rough ideas on his phone and take them to his studio in the morning.

Perhaps such an unusual creative technique is key to any budding producer because in almost in no time at all he has seen his collaborative work with Joakim released on Sound Pelligrino and his debut solo effort “NIGHT / BRAWL” for ClekClekBoom garner much critical acclaim and be awarded single of the month in DJmag.

Furthermore the 22-year-old Parisian quickly caught the eye, or perhaps the ear, of the mighty Modeselektor and was promptly asked to release his “Cobe” EP on their 50 Weapons imprint. Furthermore he has a highly anticipated debut album, dropping for the label in November and if his back catalogue is anything to go by, “Orbiting” is not only is it going to possess otherworldly originality but also shake-up dance floors everywhere.
